For me, budget is primary concern -- and this Sabrent enclosure fills the bill. I purchased this to clone HDD to a new SSD for a laptop upgrade, & it performed fine. The prior Sabrent enclosure I had purchased to connect the HDD from a fried laptop & recover Data/Photos, etc. Since then, it's been plugged to USB port of my Modem/Router, providing a bit of simple "NAS" storage & has been very reliable -- and in that usage, it isn't being moved about or handled, no risk of drops, so the enclosure is sturdy as it needs to be.!

Well... I love these... I service laptops for a living and when I find myself 'relocating' a laptop SATA disk into one of these after an SSD is installed, this makes these a great promotional 'giveaway' for my customers. The price makes it easy to afford, and keeps my clients very happy by allowing them to keep their 'old' disk for a backup device. Sure - nothing lasts forever, and I have no illusions that these plastic enclosures will have a fantastic longevity, but the price and the level of quality is totally acceptable.

Pulling the hard drive and putting it in the enclosure, I wasn't able to access the files from a healthy computer because the drive was corrupt and unreachable. I downloaded some recovery software, and lo and behold, it was able to pull the files from the drive for me, save for some random corrupt files along the way. I retrieved 99% of the files in about 2 hours time, and it only cost me $10. I couldn't be more happy with this purchase!

For windows 10, just type disk management. Google this if you have anything other than Windows 10. I found a youtube video on how to do it. The new hard drive will show up in there! From there,I did a quick format which only took 2 minutes. After that, my new hard drive showed up!

world great, glad I found this app
