I have a Nikon D4 and D500. My primary camera for landscape/cityscape is the D4. I was disappointed by the Solmeta N3 which doesn't seem to work with the D4 and looked for an alternative. The Micnova GPS-N seemed ideal. This unit is small, lightweight and unobtrusive. It uses a cable to connect the 10-pon port on the camera via a mini-usb on the unit. The GPS has an on/off switch to activate the unit. Given a clear view of the sky it quickly finds the GPS signal and it is accurate in terms of position but less accurate in terms of altitude. The altitude inaccuracy is common to all the on-camera GPS units I have used and doesn't bother me (YMMV). The unit behave properly on both of my Nikons unlike the Solmeta unit. Durability - I was happy to see a mini-usb connector on the Micnova. I thought it would enable the cable to stay connected to the camera and GPS unit. Unfortunately after just a few uses the connection to the GPS unit has become unreliable. With even slight movements it can lose connection to the unit and you have to pay great attention to the GPS indicator on the camera to ensure that the two are communicating properly. Unlike the old Solmeta N1 where the cable would become detached from the unit the cable on the Micnova always appear to be seated properly even when it isn't. The on/off switch looks like it might be flimsy but has proved to be durable so far. I do like this unit. It's great value for money, sensitive, quick and precise. I just wish it was reliable and that I didn't have to constantly pay attention to the GPS status indicator. My quick fix will probably be to "epoxy" the cable in place when I know it is seated properly. I wish I didn't have to do this though. I can't wholeheartedly recommend this given the issues I have found but, at the end of the day, you could buy three of these for the price of one solmeta and that may prove to be a bargain over the long term. Perhaps I should just buy a foolography cable and Holux....
