So, the light panel arrived in a light cardboard box. There are no instructions I could find that tell me what the power source for the panel is...what kind of batteries...volt or current ratings...? Who knows? Also, there is no cover that protects the mystery battery compartment. So, it’s open to humidity, dust, dirt, sand, whatever... if the mystery batteries aren’t seated perfectly, there’s nothing to prevent them from popping out and onto the floor. I guess you can make a back cover with plastic or cardboard that can be taped over the back and around the side...???

This product works well on its own, and is a great buy for the price and does the job I need it to do.

I'm old and not a very serious photographer. In days gone by I also avoided 'lighting' as it seemed complicated, cumbersome and expensive. Bought this for a particular video shoot using my new Canon 700D. More experienced photographers will be aware of such lights, and the pros will spend much more, but to me this came as a revelation (pardon the pun). Cheap and highly funtional. A professional videographer at the shoot borrowed it for most of the time, that's how useful it is.

I am extremely happy with my purchase of this product. I have already used this product in my new videos. It is very bright and does what it says on the tin. The use of batteries instead of AC is great for portability. Look forward to using outside for nighttime shooting. Many thanks!

Using this with an accessory shoe doubler (see photos) on my Lumix FZ330, and have to say it's a great bit of kit for the money. If you are looking to produce video clips (vlogging, youtube, whatever) on a budget then it is hard not to recommend this. I was a little wary when I bought it, as I have seen similar units that are not that bright, that have flimsy battery compartment covers or no cover at all, and which frankly are not fit for purpose. This one, however, is none of those things. Packs a real punch considering the size. Light yet powerful. Light is dimmable using the on/off wheel. And the dimming actually works nice and smoothly. Battery options are many, but I opted for rechargeable AA's (that seem to last forever, well many hours on full light setting) and the compartment cover has a good click as it closes and keeps them tightly in place. The rear panel has a set of red battery condition LEDs, so you know when your batteries are about to expire and can swap them over in good time rather than have a shoot interrupted. Comes with everything you need to attach to either a tripod or your camera accessory show. The adaptor for the camera shoe has a ball joint for angle adjustment, but this is probably the only place where budget pricing shows: it's not very reliable/stable in my experience. Comes with a set of colour filters/diffusers that snap firmly in place.
