AIt is not rechargeable. It must work with batteries. 6 x 1.5V AA Alkaline Batteries are not included in the package.
I returned this item because the top and bottom poles would not stay together. I never even got it out of the house. Also note that this is definitely for kids and not adults due to it's small size.
