l have played stringed instruments for over 40 years and have worked in the instrument manufacturing industry for over 25 years. Here is my assessment of this instrument. APPEARANCE & BUILD QUALITY: A+ I bought this because of the instrument's resemblance to the old Ovation Adamas stylings. The execution of the build is top notch. In particular the distinctive multi-colored leaf pattern over the soundholes is clean and precise. Finish quality is very good. The string height and action are medium and consistent. Very playable. The instrument intonates wtell and plays in tune. The neck in particular is straight and solid. The tuning machines are a little better than expected and attractive to boot. This is a real instrument, stage quality. SOUND: A characteristic of instruments with plastic/composite backs is that, when played purely acoustically, they sound a little more dull, a little less resonant, than a wooden instrument. This is true for this instrument as well and is to be expected. It is a little less dull sounding than many similar instruments I have played. Overall I am satisfied with the acoustic sound. The electric sound: if I play this thru an amp or preamp through a clean setting, with just a little bit of reverb, I can achieve a very realistic acoustic ukulele sound. Controls are of modest quality and do not have a huge wide range of sensitivity but are serviceable. No scratches or crackles A WORD ABOUT SHIPPING: This arrived well packaged in a fast 8 days. No complaints. Overall, I am well satisfied with this purchase Well worth the money. I will unhesitatingly buy another Andoer ukulele from docooler. It is a fine bargain on a quality ukulele .
