Definitely does what it says. It is not as powerful as some compressors Ive used but it will level your tone. There is a bit of a humming sound created that you will often need to gate if playing cleanly or for slower songs. Otherwise its a good purchase, and for the price it is totally acceptable for jamming or gigging.
