As far as a speaker, I found it to be good. It was pretty clear and and carried the song well in my living space. I was able to leave it in a central location and bring my phone one room over and there was no hiccup in the sound. It kept playing without an issue.

The lamp part works well, giving a soft light. Not a bright light like an LCD light, but more a warm light. You can turn it off also by holing the top button for a few seconds.
I did not test out the phone call function on this, but it is available on this device.

This is a great bluetooth speaker. In fact, it's much more than that. It is also a lamp with three different levels of power. You can set a clock on this and use it as an alarm clock as well. You can even make phone calls.

This bluetooth speaker is a great example. It is easy to pair, has the opportunity for you to enjoy the built-in light as well as the clock and alarm! Haven't tried the alarm out, but I can say that it is a great addition to your home office, and something you will enjoy using as well.
