Got this pedal mostly for the octave down, and the detune settings. Based on video reviews for this pedal (this same one and identical clones), using this pedal to alter tuning on my guitar (tune up or down) seemed like a good alternative to having to retune manually. The problem is that the sound gets very colored, thinned out by the pedal. For example, the sound that I get using the pedal to tune a half step up, gets degraded as compared to the sound I get out of my guitar if I manually tune the strings a half step up. Using the pedal as a 1 or 2-octave down generator works better, but the quality of the sound is of inferior quality to that of a Boss octaver pedal, for example. This right there may be the major tradeoff with this pedal: price point vs effect sound quailty. Some may be perfectly happy getting this pedal, and keeping some extra cash in their pockets.

The item sounds as it should, but I discovered that a battery can not be used and a power supply is the only way to power the pedal. It's built well and the sound is equal to that of more expensive brands.

like the small size'''although I here no difference in all 3 settings''', sounds like a cross between a chorus & phase shifter'''' But nothing close to a rotor,y simulator,,,which is what I bought it for...That said''' all controls do work,,,

This little pedal is worth the money. It has some great very useable effects (t chorus, p flange, u vibe), a few average effects (s chorus, n flange, and phaser), and the rest are unusable for anything other goofing off. It has a small footprint and cost almost nothing. The bad is that every effect has a different level for unity, and it does has a slight but noticeable hiss when engaged (a noise gate or compressor might take care of that). This is a good pedal, very fun to play around with, and will stay on my board set to univibe. If it breaks I will replace it with a tc carona and a mxr univbe.

It works as advertised. The knob protect bar is a really cool idea and works well. I've not had much experience with octavaters so hard to compare with other devices. I got this hoping that I could use it in recording to modify my axe to a bass. At this point I can't say that I'm real pleased with the results. I guess there's no substitute for the actual instrument. The TOP setting is very screechy with both octaves at full volume, but by backing off the volume it becomes more tolerable. However, I found that by leaving the box switched to BOTH and fiddling with the volume settings I can get some interesting tones that verge on a chorus. These tones are planting a few creative seeds in my head. I may come back and change the number of stars given after I've toyed with it a while longer. I suppose the bottom line is the answer to the question, "Would I buy it again?". Hmmm. I might spend more and get a used Boss or DigiTech box, but based on the quality of this box I would seriously consider purchasing another Tomsline effect pedal. The price is very fair for what you're getting.
